10 kN Electric Hoisting Winch
10 kN Electric Hoisting Winch
A 10 kN electric hoisting winch built in Yatala for general construction hoisting, with 100 m of rope capacity, a heavy-duty steel frame, single-phase electric drive and a fail-safe brake that holds the load whenever the motor stops.
Hoisting Winch Project Overview
A custom-built 10 kN electric hoisting winch for general construction lifting
A 10 kN electric hoisting winch built in stainless steel for general construction hoisting, a compact unit designed to lift tools, materials and small components where a crane or hoist is not practical. The stainless drum housing and base keep it clean and corrosion-free on site, the blue electric motor drives through a compact gearbox, and 100 m of rope gives plenty of reach for shafts, pits and multi-storey work. Small as it is, the winch was designed and load tested as lifting equipment at our Yatala, Queensland workshop and supplied with certification.

Operational & Technical Breakdown
An in-depth look at the 10 kN electric hoisting winch's performance and technical capabilities
The winch uses a stainless steel drum housing and base plate with a grooved drum for 100 m of rope at 10 kN, driven through a gearbox by a foot-mounted electric motor. The housing encloses the drum on three sides so the rope is guarded and the mechanism is protected from site debris, and the base has four mounting holes for bolting to a frame, beam or bracket.
Because it hoists, the winch has a spring-applied brake that holds the load whenever the motor stops and gearing chosen for smooth, controlled lifting rather than speed. The motor and controls run from site power, and the unit was load tested to AS 1418 at Yatala with certificates supplied so it can be used as lifting equipment straight away.
Other Winch Applications
Versatile winching solutions across multiple industries.
Beyond construction, small stainless hoisting winches suit workshops, water treatment plants and marine facilities that need a compact, corrosion-resistant lift.
Hoisting tools, parts and service equipment inside wind turbine towers and at hydro and solar plants – compact electric winches with fail-safe brakes for lifting duty.
Lifting catch, bait and gear between deck and wharf – small electric hoisting winches with corrosion protection for the working harbour.
Project Conclusion
The 10 kN electric hoisting winch shows that ACW applies the same engineering and certification to a compact site winch as to its largest machines. Designed, built and tested in Yatala by Australian Certified Winches.
Like every winch we build, it was designed to AS 1418, the Australian Standard for cranes, hoists and winches, and signed off by our RPEQ-registered engineers before load testing in Yatala.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about compact electric hoisting winches.
What can a 10 kN hoisting winch lift?
Up to one tonne on a single line, which covers tools, materials, small pumps and components on a construction site. It is designed and certified as lifting equipment, so it can be used where a rated hoist is required.
Why is the housing stainless steel?
Stainless keeps the winch clean and corrosion-free without paint, which matters on wet sites and in plants where the winch may sit for long periods between uses. It also gives a smooth guarded enclosure around the drum.
How is the load held?
A spring-applied brake engages the moment the motor stops or power is removed, holding the rated load without operator action. The gearing also prevents the load driving the motor backwards.
How much rope does it carry?
The drum stores 100 m of rope, enough for deep pits, shafts and multi-storey lifts from a fixed mounting point. Other drum sizes and rope diameters are available on the same housing.
How is the winch mounted?
The stainless base plate has four mounting holes for bolting to a steel frame, beam bracket or concrete plinth. ACW can supply a mounting bracket or trolley to suit the site.
Need a Hoisting Winch?
