30 kN Electric Hauling Winch
30 kN Electric Hauling Winch
A 30 kN electric hauling winch built in Yatala for general construction hauling, with 150 m of rope capacity, a heavy-duty steel frame, single-phase electric drive with variable speed and a fail-safe brake for controlled pulls.
Hauling Winch Project Overview
A custom-built 30 kN electric hauling winch for general construction duties
A 30 kN electric hauling winch built for general construction hauling duties, the kind of everyday pull that moves plant, formwork and materials around a site. The brief was a robust, simple machine that runs from a single-phase supply, with variable speed so the operator can creep a load into position, and a yellow safety guard over the drum. It carries 100 m of rope, has its control cabinet and pendant mounted on the frame, and is built on a heavy-duty steel base that sits flat on a concrete pad or bolts to a skid. Engineered, manufactured and load tested at our Yatala, Queensland workshop.

Operational & Technical Breakdown
An in-depth look at the 30 kN electric hauling winch's performance and technical capabilities
The winch is a fabricated steel frame with a grooved drum, gearbox and electric motor arranged in line, finished in blue with a yellow drum guard. The drum stores 100 m of wire rope for 30 kN on the working layer, and the rope guide and anchor are set for a level pull from a fixed anchor point. Bearings, gearbox and motor are all standard industrial components so spares are readily available.
A variable speed drive in the frame-mounted control cabinet lets the operator run the winch slowly for positioning and faster for the long haul, with a pendant on a lead for control from a safe distance. A spring-applied brake on the drive holds the load whenever the motor stops or power is lost, and the winch was load tested to AS 1418 at Yatala with certificates supplied.
Other Winch Applications
Versatile winching solutions across multiple industries.
Beyond construction, a 30 kN electric hauling winch suits workshops, depots and plants that need a certified general purpose pull from a single-phase supply.
Pulling trolleys, skids and heavy components across the factory floor – electric hauling winches with variable speed for controlled, repeatable moves.
General hauling around workshops, wash bays and processing plants – compact single-phase electric winches with fail-safe brakes for site use.
Project Conclusion
The 30 kN electric hauling winch is the workhorse of the ACW range, a simple, certified machine sized for daily construction hauling. Designed, built and tested in Yatala by Australian Certified Winches.
Like every winch we build, it was designed to AS 1418, the Australian Standard for cranes, hoists and winches, and signed off by our RPEQ-registered engineers before load testing in Yatala.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about general purpose electric hauling winches.
What jobs suit a 30 kN electric hauling winch?
Moving plant and skids, pulling formwork and precast elements into position, dragging materials along the ground and general site hauling where a controlled 3 tonne line pull is needed. It is not a lifting winch unless specified with hoisting-rated brakes and controls.
Does it run from normal site power?
Yes. The motor and variable speed drive are single-phase, so the winch runs from a standard site supply or a suitably sized generator without three-phase cabling.
How is the speed controlled?
A variable speed drive in the control cabinet gives smooth, adjustable line speed in both directions from the pendant, so the operator can creep the load for the final positioning and speed up for the long haul.
What holds the load when the winch stops?
A spring-applied brake on the drive engages the moment the motor stops or power is lost, holding the rated load without any operator action. The drum guard keeps hands and debris clear of the rope.
Can the winch be adapted for other capacities or ropes?
Yes. The same frame family is built from 10 kN to 90 kN with different drums, motors and rope lengths, and ACW can add features such as drum declutch, radio control or marine coatings to suit the site.
Need a Hauling Winch?
Tell us the load, the rope run and the power you have on site. Our RPEQ engineers will size a certified hauling winch for it.
