Electric Winches for Various Industries

Electrical Winches are the Future of Industrial Lifting

Electric winches are powered lifting systems that use electric motors to raise, lower, or pull loads. Unlike hydraulic or pneumatic systems, electric winches offer precision control, quiet operation, and zero emissions— making them ideal for modern industrial environments.

Available in capacities from 5 kW to 250 kW, electric winches are the choice for mining operations, marine installations, construction sites, and automated manufacturing systems.

Compared to hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electric winches offer significant advantages: lower operating costs (no fluid refills), faster deployment (minimal setup time), precision control (integrated sensors and automation), and environmental compliance (zero emissions).

While initial investment may be higher, total cost of ownership over 5-10 years typically favors electric systems due to reduced maintenance and energy efficiency.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Electric Winches FAQs: Common Questions Answered

Everything procurement teams and engineers need to know before specifying an electric winch system.

      COMPLIANCE & STANDARDS

Does your winch meet MDG33 standards?

Yes. All mining winches are engineered to MDG33 standards as required for NSW coal mines. We provide full certification documentation with every system.

AS1418 is the Australian standard for all cranes and hoists. MDG33 is the specific mining design guideline for coal mines, which is more stringent. We design to both standards where applicable.
Annual inspections are standard. For critical safety systems, we recommend twice-yearly inspections. Full inspection and testing protocols are included in your documentation package.
Yes. We can provide DNV 2.22 (offshore), Lloyd’s, ABS, or other certifications as needed. Let us know your specific requirements.

      CAPACITY & PERFORMANCE

What's the range of capacities you can provide?
From 1 kN (100 kg) for precision surveying up to 1000 kN (100 tonnes) for heavy mining operations. Custom designs available for any capacity.
Speed depends on the application. Recovery winches: 12–20 m/min. Conveyor systems: variable based on load. We can customize speed, but safety and duty cycle impact the design.
Yes. Electric for standard operations, pneumatic for hazardous areas with methane or explosive atmosphere risk. We engineer both types.

      CUSTOMISATION & LEAD TIME

How long does a custom winch take to build?
Typically 8–12 weeks from order to delivery. Expedited options available for urgent projects. Timeline depends on complexity and any required certifications.

Yes. We offer retrofit upgrades, capacity increases, and modernisation of older equipment. Contact us for assessment.

We specialise in custom engineering. For off-the-shelf products, we can source from trusted European and US manufacturers and back them with our support.

      SUPPORT & MAINTENANCE

What support do you provide after installation?

Full onsite installation, operator training, maintenance scheduling, and 24/7 emergency support. We can also provide annual inspection services.

Yes. Critical spare parts are maintained in stock. Any custom components can be manufactured quickly. Preventative maintenance plans available.

Yes. We repair and maintain industrial winches regardless of manufacturer. General fabrication and precision machining services available.

      SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

How do fail-safe brakes work on mining winches?

Spring-applied brakes engage automatically if power is lost. Redundant systems ensure 100% load holding even in power-loss or emergency scenarios. This is mandatory for mining safety applications.

Pneumatic systems have no electrical components, eliminating spark and ignition risks in high-methane environments. Design and testing meets explosive atmosphere requirements.
