45 kN Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Purpose Winch
45 kN Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Purpose Winch
A 45 kN electro-hydraulic multi-purpose winch built in Yatala for the equipment hire market, combining three-phase electric power with hydraulic drive and 400 m of rope for general construction hauling and hoisting.
Multi-Purpose Winch Project Overview
A custom-built 45 kN electro-hydraulic winch for the equipment hire market
A 45 kN electric over hydraulic general purpose winch built for the equipment hire market, where one machine has to handle whatever job the next customer brings: hauling, hoisting, load testing or positioning. The winch runs from a three-phase supply through its own hydraulic power pack, so hire customers plug it in and get hydraulic smoothness and stall torque without needing site hydraulics. A 400 m drum capacity covers long pulls, a full mesh cage protects the drum and drive, and the control system includes a load cell and digital readout so operators can see line pull and distance during every job. Engineered, built and load tested at our Yatala, Queensland workshop.

Operational & Technical Breakdown
An in-depth look at the 45 kN electro-hydraulic multi-purpose winch's performance and technical capabilities
The winch drum, gearbox and hydraulic motor are mounted in a fabricated steel base with a full-height yellow mesh cage, lockable access door, forklift pockets and certified lifting points, so the unit travels on a tray truck and is placed by forklift without rigging. The drum stores 400 m of rope for 45 kN on the working layer, with a handwheel operated drum clutch and a rope guide to keep spooling tidy when different operators use it.
An electric motor drives a hydraulic power pack inside the cage, and a proportional valve gives smooth speed control in both directions with a fail-safe brake on the drum. The control cabinet carries a VFD, a load cell indicator and a distance readout, and the winch was calibrated and pull tested on a test rig at Yatala with the readings recorded before it entered the hire fleet.
Other Winch Applications
Versatile winching solutions across multiple industries.
Beyond construction hire, an electro-hydraulic winch with load and distance readout suits rigging contractors, shutdown crews and test facilities that need one certified machine for many tasks.
Plant relocation, machinery positioning and heavy component moves inside factories – a general-purpose winch that hire fleets can send to any site.
Slipway hauling, barge positioning and mooring duties – electro-hydraulic drive gives smooth control with the stall torque that marine loads demand.
Project Conclusion
The 45 kN electro-hydraulic multi-purpose winch gives hire customers a certified, self-contained pull with live load readout, built to survive fleet life. Designed, built and tested in Yatala by Australian Certified Winches.
Like every winch we build, it was designed to AS 1418, the Australian Standard for cranes, hoists and winches, and signed off by our RPEQ-registered engineers before load testing in Yatala.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about multi-purpose electro-hydraulic winches for hire and contracting.
What does electro-hydraulic mean on a winch?
An electric motor drives a hydraulic pump inside the winch, and hydraulic oil drives the drum motor. The operator gets the convenience of a three-phase plug with the smooth, high-torque control of a hydraulic winch, and no external hydraulic supply is needed.
Why fit a load cell and readout on a hire winch?
Hire operators rarely know the exact load they are pulling. The load cell shows line pull in real time and the distance counter shows rope paid out, so the operator stays within the rating and can prove the pull if the job requires a record.
How is the winch protected on site?
A full mesh cage encloses the drum, drive and power pack, with a lockable door for maintenance. The cage keeps hands and debris away from the moving rope and protects the machine when it is trucked between jobs.
What can the 45 kN winch be used for?
Hauling plant and skids, hoisting through a certified sheave, positioning heavy components and pull testing anchors are typical hire jobs. With 400 m of rope it also handles long-distance pulls such as cable and pipe installation.
Was the winch load tested before delivery?
Yes. The winch was calibrated and pull tested on a rig at Yatala with load cell readings and distance recorded, and supplied with test certificates and RPEQ sign-off so it can enter a hire fleet with its compliance paperwork complete.
